Galunggung's Landscape

A good morning greeting from Galunggung to YOU. oui.. :)
Mount Galunggung (Indonesian: Gunung Galunggung, formerly spelled Galoen-gong) is an active stratovolcano in West Java, Indonesia, around 80 km (50 mi) southeast of the West Java provincial capital, Bandung (or around 25 km (16 mi) to the east of the West Java town ofGarut). Mount Galunggung is part of the Sunda Arc extending through Sumatra, Java and Bali, which has resulted from the subduction of theAustralian plate beneath the Eurasian plate.
For the first time since 1921 after eruptions finished and conditions seemed normal, on February 12, 2012, the status was upgraded to Alert based on changes in conditions. On 28 May 2012, it was lowered from 2 back to 1 (On a scale of 1-4)
The last major eruption on Galunggung was in 1982, which had a Volcanic Explosivity Index of 4 and killed 18 people (due to indirect cause (traffic accident, starvation)). This eruption also brought the dangers of volcanic ash to aviation to worldwide attention, after two Boeing 747passenger jets flying downwind of the eruption suffered temporary engine failures and damage to exterior surfaces, both planes being forced to make emergency landings at Jakarta airport.
One, a British Airways aircraft carrying 240 passengers, accidentally entered the ash cloud during night in June 1982 150 km (93 mi) downwind of the volcano. All four engines failed due to the buildup of volcanic ash, and the aircraft descended for 16 minutes, losing 7,500 m (24,606 ft) of its 11,500 m (37,730 ft) altitude, until the crew managed to restart the engines.
The following month, a Singapore Airlines aeroplane with approximately 230 passengers aboard also inadvertently entered the cloud at night, and three of its four engines stopped. The crew succeeded in restarting one of the engines after descending 2,400 m (7,874 ft). Both aircraft suffered serious damage to their engines and exterior surfaces

Moss on most rock in Mt.Galunggung
The south face of galunggung (from inside)
View of the lake from south face of Galunggung..
The lake is green because of the moss. It's also used by locals to fish..
It view from the center, facing west.
Right below the hill, there is a lake, a green moss lake.:)
This is what you get when you are in the middle of Galunggung, besides the lake of course.. :)
The west face and a lake full of moss.. nice view
Some people were fishing down there, locals said that if they were lucky, they can get more than 7 kg of fish
but that "IF" they were lucky.. :)
Clear view of the lake without my annoying right hand..

Puisi Pinus

Segar sekali gumanku lirih,
hingga perut merintih pun malu untuk acuh
Untuk sementara, dia lupa berkata aduh

Gelap berganti terang,
Pinus semakin senang
Tak ada yang kurang
Semua merasa menang

Hmmm, pinus meniup wajah
Bukan merenggut hangatnya pagi
Tidak pula menghapus lelah
Hanya menarik mata untuk berdiri

Ini yang kucari
Ini yang kuingini
Ini yang kusukai
Dan ini pula yang harus kujaga agar tetap abadi

Hai pinus, jangan tidur
Jaga malam kami
Generasiku nanti akan mampir
Salam lestari..

But  thanks God, we got this Vega-R. (hahaha)
The Vega took us there safely, though we always scream along the way. :D

This is the place to park your motorbike, there's also food stall. you can buy water or meal here..

Explore Garut (Curug Orok)

In sunda, Curug means "waterfall". This waterfall's called "curug orok", located on garut.
this waterfall is used for youth to enjoy the view, get lost from the town, and some of them use it to take some photos.
There are three main sources for the water, consist of one big and high curug, and two others are just the small one as you can see in the right picture.

you can swim, bath or maybe just wanna play some water here, nut make sure when you swim or bath, do not use soap.
It will contaminate the water, we have to keep it clean, fresh and healthy.

I ever read some quotes about water..
"Tinggalkan mata air untuk keturunan kita, jangan tinggalkan air mata karena mata air telah habis"

The last nigh of 2013

[Very] Late post
At first, we want to spend new year eve seeing fireworks. well, we got the fireworks but not in a photo. So we just spent the night laughing, chit-chat and more laughing. :D

I can get anything at night, coz, i forgot to bring my flash.
This is the best photo i took at night, most of them was too dark or blurry. :p

It was breakfast time, though the food didn't look great, (hehe) but the taste is freaking delicious.. (forgive me God not to say the truth) :D
I told them to show me their best faces, and this is what i got.
i wan't expect this (if you know what i meant). :D

look at their faces, they enjoy spending a day outside.
well, we have to spend more days then.
Maybe she looked for food, she just couldn't find any. coz i hide them. :D
I wanted to capture her "just woke up face"  candid. but she realized it. damn..

The boys vs the girls. fair enough,
boys will always be boys.
It was 9 am, and we had to get back to the city..
some was packing, and the others were just seeing (the had packed before) :)
OK, let's take our full team picture.. 1, 2 and..
finally i have my self (the man with hat and glasses) on the photo. :D

Papandayan the last puzzle in Garut trip..

Why jump???
Because we're happy. :D
A night trip to Mt. Papandayan (2665 mdpl) by bike, It was my first time, so i did't know what would i meet there. They said the view is great, the edelweiss is awesome and the crater is amazing.
After a night walk and a few hours sleep, this picture bellow is what you got.

Edelweiss at pondok saladah. People use to camp here, then continue to Tegal Alun in the morning
(It's forbidden to camp in Tegal Alun)
"Dead Jungle". There are saveral ways to get to Tegal Alun, This is one alternative way to get there.
Walking passing trough this jungle is something great, awesome..
There's a path to come down, but i don't know where it goes.
I guess, i'm just gonna enjoy the view here (Tegal Alun)
In your all you side, right, left, back and front.. edelweiss will spoil your eyes.
It's a very LARGE edelweiss garden
Edelweiss, taken by Puji (The girl)
Beautiful isn't it.
Here's is the girl "Puji"with the edelweiss.
Though there are so many edelweiss, but she didn't pick any of those flowers. #Respect
Tatang enjoying theview and the open air. WOW!!!
Well, It's not the peak of Papandayan.
It's a sign to get there, tatang just cover the arrow that show you the way. :D
Nice try..
To get to Top of Papandaya, you have to walk another Km.. :D
People usually just come till here, they seldom get to the top. i don't know their reason, but i do the same..=))
That was our track last night. hmmm, it's far enough..
"Dead Jungle" no trees are alive. hahaha
It's a cliff. don't jump. yea, it's near and fast, but just don't jump.. :)
I know you guys won't
This is the crater, it's so stink but it's beatifull.
Godbye Papandayan..
